Coronation Street fans think ‘something bad is going to happen’ as they fear for Carla Connor’s future following a shock arrival in Weatherfield.

As fans of the ITV soap know, things were looking up for Carla and her partner, Lisa Swain, after a difficult start to their relationship. In joyous scenes, Lisa popped the question to the Underworld factory boss following her own unsuccessful attempts to propose.

But in a dramatic turn of events, their engagement bubble was popped by the arrival of Lisa’s late wife, Becky Swain, who wasn’t dead like she was led to believe.

As those tuning in to the long-running show saw, Lisa struggled to believe Becky was standing in front of her, and was unable to get her head around the fact that Becky had allowed her and their daughter, Betsy, to grieve her for so long, despite her whole death being fake.

Becky explained that she had spent the last four years in Spain under another name after being put into witness protection, following an undercover operation gone wrong.

Lisa was furious to discover that Becky had been targeting a dangerous gang, which had ultimately put the whole family in danger and led to Becky’s decision to go into hiding.

Unable to believe Becky’s story, Lisa demanded answers from her boss, DI Costello, but she was heartbroken as he corroborated her former partner’s version of events.

As Becky doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, with Betsy now aware that her mum’s death in the line of duty fake, Corrie fans are becoming increasingly worried for Carla, having felt the latest arrival on the cobbles could turn more sinister as time goes on.

@wordtoyourmil said: “I genuinely believe Becky is going to hurt Carla at some point down the road. Or maybe even like kidnap Betsy. Like something bad is going to happen. Going to be peak television #Corrie.” @reeseanistons replied: “What if she kidnaps carla and that’s how they write in ali’s holiday.”

@MargheritAxen predicted: “I’m pretty sure the theory will be this (according to Ali’s holiday). B will kidnap her leaving Lisa, Betsy and Ryan with a letter from Carla saying that she will take aside. Betsy finds Lisa crying on the couch, she reads the letter and doesn’t believe it. They are both in shock.”

However, @RachelTweets000 shared: “It’s highly likely they don’t even write Ali’s absence into the show. With Becky’s presence and Eva/Bethany’s return coming in the next few weeks, they can easily work around any absence. It’s far too soon for Becky to be making any sort of kidnapping plots.”

@TVMusings22 echoed: “I doubt they’ll even write Ali’s holiday in it it’s only A couple of weeks more than likely they’ll push other stories forward, it’s to soon for kidnaps.”

It comes after Corrie fans previously predicted that a break from Weatherfield may be on the cards for Carla, due to a reported break in actress Alison King’s filming scheduled.
