Introduced in 2021, Eve quickly became a fan favourite with viewers through her romance with Balvinder Sopal’s Suki Panesar-Unwin.

Fans have been heavily invested in the romance following years of them fighting to be together as Suki’s evil ex-husband Nish Panesar fought to keep them apart.

Getting married on New Year’s Day, an end to the couple’s torment arrived when Suki’s son Ravi Gulati pushed Nish off a building.

The couple are finally seeing eye to eye again after a divisive storyline during the summer which saw Suki trying to convince her pregnant teenage grandchild Avani Nanda-Hart not to have an abortion.

With Balvinder currently juggling the show with her Strictly Come Dancing duties, Heather has told The Mirror about why fans shouldn’t fear the end of Sukeve

She said at the Inside Soap Awards: “It would cheat the fans if we were to break up over something like that. I think we’ve portrayed a story about soulmates, about people who can’t be apart, but the situation was big enough for Eve to be apart from her for this long.

“Suki was slipping into her old ways by trying to get people to do what she wants them to do. Maybe not overtly manipulating, but there was manipulation there, and I think that was quite terrifying for Eve.

“There were a couple of arguments that absolutely blew the roof off and it was right for them to take that time.”

She continued: “But I want to see them progress. I want to see a happy, successful woman-loving-woman marriage. We haven’t seen that yet in soap, and it’s really important…

“But the drama comes in there and the bits in-between that are not going so well. That’s the stories right?”

With so much happening in their lives since getting married, Heather joked that it might be best for the character to ‘go to therapy’.

Looking ahead to the future, Heather teased that she hopes that Eve remains a ‘go-between with the Slaters and the Panesars’.

“Eve is a bridging character for those two families, so we’ll see where it goes,” she said.

One person who Heather won’t be acting alongside going forward is Lacey Turner, with her former onscreen lover and ‘absolute best pal’ taking time off from playing Stacey Slater.

“I’m just more concerned that Heather’s not gonna have her bestie quite frankly! Sometimes I’ve got days where I have a scene in the morning and a scene later on, and I go and see Lacey in-between cos she’s still a part of my working day. She’s my absolute best pal. I adore her,” she noted.
