EastEnders star Jake Wood has paid tribute to his ‘shining light’ wife ahead of Max Branning’s permanent return to the programme.
Fans of the BBC soap were left stunned earlier in the month when Max appeared for the first time since 2021.
Viewers last saw 52-year-old actor Jake as Max in 2021 when Linda Carter decided to get back together with Mick Carter after their affair.
Initially introduced to viewers in 2006, Max went on to become one of the most popular EastEnders characters of the past two decades.

Best known for having his affair with his son Bradley Branning’s wife Stacey Slater exposed on Christmas day, Max is a serial womaniser.
Upon his return, it was revealed that Max engaged in an affair with Zoe Slater earlier in the year after meeting her in a pub in London.

The pair’s brief romance was cut short when Zoe fled Max after she hit a private investigator with a lamp after he attempted to assault her.

With Max giving Zoe the money to pay the man who claimed to have information about her son, he’s now adamant that he will be coming back to Walford to get his money back.
Away from the spotlight, Jake has been married to his wife Alison Wood since 2001, renewing their vows in front of their friends and family back in 2018.
The happy couple share two children together, 24-year-old daughter Amber and 20-year-old son Buster.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday (September 16), Jake shared a snap of Alison roasting marshmallows on a fire, calling her his ‘beautiful wife’ in text on the image.
He captioned his post: “Happy birthday @alisonrwood46. You are such a shining light and we all love you so much.”
The comments section of Jake’s post saw several of his famous friends and fans sending their own birthday messages to Alison.

Taking to her own page with a snap of her holding her birthday cards, Alison said she was ‘feeling loved and quite blissed out’.
